When things are not going so easy keeping track of your mood will surprisingly help you feel a little more relaxed. Kind of like a map, a mood tracker helps you identify and recognize your emotions.
The idea is that you fill in one mood per day, for at least one month or a year depending on which tracker you want to try. At the end of the month, you have a pretty colorful grid to look back on where you see how you felt most days.
Perhaps you will see patterns. Mood trackers are a great way to visualize how you are feeling from day to day and to get an overview of your emotions throughout one month.
Assessing it was a good, bad, or blah month? I believe something liberating happens when we develop the habit of expressing emotions by saying, “I feel…”
For example, “I feel sad. I feel angry. I feel disappointed.” We break the hold of the emotion that has on us. Instead of being swept away by the emotion, we become more conscious of it and see it as a temporary state.
Adopting this habit challenges your belief system about emotions, so you regulate more easily in those tough moments. Track how you are feeling on a day-to-day basis by clicking on the link to download the free mood tracker.
